As a Family & Community Support Worker at Bedspace, you'll work alongside individuals and families living in temporary accommodation, helping them build the skills, confidence and stability they need to take their next step.
This is a practical, varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You'll work directly with people in their accommodation, alongside housing providers, local authorities and other professionals to help remove the barriers that can prevent someone from moving forward.
You're not there to do things for people. You're there to help people learn how to do things for themselves.
☀️ A Day in the Life
No two days will look exactly the same — and that's part of what makes this role so rewarding.
☕ Start your day by reviewing your caseload and planning your visits. You could be heading out to support a family with a housing application or visiting someone who needs a little extra support to stay on track with their goals.
🏠 Get out and about across Liverpool, visiting people in their accommodation and building positive, trusting relationships. You might help someone create a budget, understand their tenancy responsibilities or prepare for a move into their own home.
🔑 Help people take practical steps towards independence, whether that's applying for housing through Property Pool Plus, accessing employment or education, managing their home or developing everyday life skills.
🤝 Work alongside other professionals, including Social Workers, healthcare professionals, DWP, Police, housing teams and local authorities, making sure people have the right support around them.
🔍 Complete property checks to make sure accommodation is safe, suitable and being maintained, identifying any issues that need to be addressed.
💬 Have meaningful conversations when someone is struggling. You'll need to remain calm, patient and confident when managing challenging situations, while helping people recognise their strengths and make positive choices.
📝 Finish the day by updating your records, recording progress and planning your next steps.

💙 What you'll be doing
You'll manage a caseload of individuals and families across the Liverpool region, providing personalised support based around their needs, strengths and goals.
Your role will include:
🏠 Supporting people to develop practical independent living skills
💷 Helping with budgeting, bills, tenancy responsibilities and managing a home
🔑 Supporting housing applications and navigating systems such as Property Pool Plus
💼 Supporting people to access employment, education and training
🤝 Working with Social Workers, healthcare professionals, DWP, Police and other agencies
🔍 Completing weekly property checks and helping to maintain safe and suitable accommodation
💬 Supporting people to manage challenges, develop confidence and make positive choices
🛡️ Identifying and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns
💙 Signposting to specialist services, including mental health, substance misuse and domestic abuse support
📝 Keeping accurate records and writing clear reports about progress, support needs and outcomes
👋 About You
We're looking for someone who genuinely believes that people can make positive changes when they have the right support around them.
You don't need to have worked in exactly the same role before. Your experience could come from housing, homelessness, family support, youth work, community work, employability, criminal justice, health and social care, or another role where you've helped people become more independent.

📋 What you'll need
- Experience supporting people to develop independence
- An understanding of safeguarding for adults and children
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Confidence working independently and managing your own caseload
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft 365
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use
- Willingness to travel across Liverpool and the surrounding area
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, or a willingness to work towards it
